What Is Revolut?

Revolut is a UK-based mobile-first fintech company and a challenger bank, serving international clients and businesses seeking foreign exchange at good rates. Its flagship product is a multi-currency account, where customers can spend, save and send money locally and abroad.

Revolut Business includes a payment gateway, however, it is not its primary focus but rather an added component of the overall product offering.

Revolut is a private company, founded in 2015 by Nikolay Storonsky (now CEO) and Vlad Yatsenko. Storonsky is still the biggest individual shareholder, owning more than 25% of the company after recently increasing his stake.

But the Business help centre, web dashboard, and app are available in several major European languages like English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and more.

Their customer support chat also says they can help in over 100 languages. While that refers to support (not the payment system itself), it suggests the platform supports a wide range of languages overall.

Revolut settles payments the next day, or within 24 hours of a successful customer transaction. This includes weekends and holidays, so payouts happen every day.

As soon as the money hits your Merchant account, you can move it instantly to your main Revolut Business account. If it’s in the same currency, there’s no fee to transfer. Once it’s in your Business account, you can use the funds right away for transfers, payouts, or everyday business expenses. Revolut’s withdrawals to local bank accounts are usually instant, but may take 1-2 business days depending on the payment method.
